Developing millennial talent in the field of PR

Millennials in the workforce are salvaging their reputation. Our generation is shattering the misconceptions that we are entitled, lazy, and gadget-dependent. These days, many millennials from different fields are using their talents and influence in rallying others to support worthwhile causes. In the field of public relations, it's important to sharpen the millennial talent. Here are some ways industry leaders can do this:


Develop their confidence and communication skills


Contrary to the belief that millennials are entitled and rude, most of them are just actually overly-conscious of how they will be perceived by others. Even the extremely talented ones will second-guess themselves. It is important to reassure them of what they can do, but it's also necessary to help them learn how to ask and get what they want. In PR, you need to learn how to convince people. You need to get their approval. If you're sharing a good thing, they have to understand why it's so good. They also need to learn how to speak with authority figures and industry juniors.

Empower them to become industry leaders


In this age of live streaming and personal broadcasts, millennials who are working in PR must step up their game. To do this, their mentors should train them to become leaders that people in the industry can trust. These days, young PR people can write, design, shoot, and market their own projects. However, they need the right strategies to get the attention they or the company they represent deserves. Aside from building up their knowledge, they also need to hone their social and communication skills to become a figure people will trust.


Millennials still have a few years before the next generation takes over. While they're still at their peak, they have to make the most out of the opportunities made available to them.
